General business
i) Planting for next year - meeting on Thursday with AC personne.
ii) License with AC Preliminary discussions regarding end date. Further conversations with Council and Forum members are needed.
Working and Community Groups
Pūhoi Heritage Museum - producing desk calendar with Puhoi photos, volunteers a day a month would be helpful. Tolhopf file nearly complete.
Village Market - on this Sunday in Community Orchard. Puhoi Playgroup and Volunteer Fire Brigade attending. Need to encourage local contributions for local food items for Village Stall. Have opted to share a large container with Landcare located in new Trust area by Puhoi River Motors. Twilight market mid November, Sat 21st.
Pūhoi Centennial Hall - Quiz 21st Nov, Ceilidh is 28th. Committee meeting 28th October.
Pūhoi Community Orchard - Working bee over summer to weed and stake trees. Puhoi Produce swap fortnightly, Sunday 4pm in the pergola, 8th, 22nd, Nov, 13th Dec all on FB.
Landcare - cabin at Puhoi Rivers has been made available for Landcare, and container alongside is being re-roofed. Will be open to get traps while this is being done and also at village table at market.
Pūhoi Road Safety - survey coming out on website and FB
Pūhoi Pioneers Memorial Park / River Park -.met with C Glitz, council contractor for trail design. Preliminary Plans are to zigzag existing loop track to make it more useable in winter and put in an additional track up past the existing track built by Bill Marcroft and Landcare volunteers some years ago . Meeting with Dan from Council on Thursday re planting for next year. Trees for Survival planted trees coming back from frost damage. 200 donated plants put in around orchard field to infill existing planting.
Pūhoi Volunteer Fire Brigade - Thanks to community support towards this nomination in winning the small brigade award for NZ. Attending Market Nov & Dec.
Halloween run for kids on FB
Attended Mahu West open day CRG group with escape maze
call out to Leigh house fire kept volunteers all night shifting 100,000l of water though tankers.
BBQ at station for recognition of volunteer’s employers.
Registering for Sky Tower / start training after Xmas
Putting up xmas lights next month. Xmas function at EOY for crew, key community members.
Calendar selling at market $25 each.
Pūhoi Emergency Group - meeting attended by Puhoi Volunteer fire brigade talking about fire safety this summer around vegetation. Pip Stockton publishing tips on FB page.
Waiwera Valley Association - zoom meetings,/business as usual.
Pūhoi Playgroup - will be at market this month. Spring cleaning this Saturday. Library visit day upcoming and a visit from the local volunteer Fire Brigade, followed by xmas party. Continuing to encourage community use of facility.
Other matters arising:
Community Noticeboard - no feedback as to completion date
Library and playgroup have followed up Pebbly python initiative.
Query about local footpath initiative update. None at this point.
Jenny Schollum has prepared photo for tree signage which could go on top of the retaining wall at the wharf. Need to get photo formatted correctly .dwg or .dxf file and also for correct tree identification prior to cutting on steel.
